About.

Thank you for visiting!  My name is Vic Lang.  I also respond to Victor when its 'official'.

I'm what most would call an "old guy'… recently "un-retired".  A small wood shop had kept me busy, as my good wife of 55 years still does.  Some health issues 14 years ago prompted my retirement, (when my 'Big Ticker' blew a tire) and although it took a few years, all is good again.  Thank you!

Over these years, I occupied myself as a 'Maker'
of
sorts, often out to source wood material, tools and equipment.  During these excursions, I came across
suppliers I thought could use some help.   More to the point, I felt they could benefit from my

(recently adopted moniker) development help.

Entrepreneurialism...
   "Creating the wherewithal
           to do something!"

So Who am I? |

I don't identify as an 'entrepreneur.'  In my era, we were referred to as 'promoter-developers' in business or real estate.  However, I recently coined the term 'entrepreneurialist,' reflecting my lifelong commitment to 'entrepreneurialism.'  As a practitioner, my primary focus is on fostering and encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit.

With over 50 years of first hand experience, I have found this approach to opportunity growth more effective than the common administrative alternatives.  Yet, it hasn't been without its fair share of errors and misjudgments.

In the spirit of transparency, my narrative is one of resilience, marked by triumphs and trials, highs and lows.   The financial challenges of 1981 and the aftermath of the 2008 Sub-Prime Mortgage crisis stand out as crucibles in my journey.  I went broke; twice.  First in 1981 due to interest rates exceeding 21%, and later in 2011 when the Sub-Prime Mortgage crisis reached Canada.  The earlier setback, although painful, paved the way for 'client work,' assisting individuals in structuring their deals for private equity or public investment.

At that time, post-1981, The Vancouver Stock Exchange (VSE) played a key capital market role in Canada (if not globally).  As those seeking access arrived from all over the world, our services became evermore popular.  An accredited consultancy under BC Securities Regulator rules, our agency developed Business Plans and provided Independent Consultant Reviews ("ICR")In addition we navigated debt restructuring and enterprise turnarounds and helped others explore new markets or re-develop existing ones – all in the spirit of what would today be known as 'entrepreneurialism'.'  Despite the VSE's "dubious" reputation, our consultancy flourished.   However, it was not long before this activity attracted the attention of what was then the 'Big Eight' (now Four) Consulting Firms, all seeking to replace lost clients.  Some went as far as to give ICRs (our bread & butter) away as a 'loss leader', providing, of course, that they picked up the long term "Audit Account".   Soon thereafter, our five-year run ended.  By the time industry regulators noticed these 'conflicts of interest', it was too late. Ah well!

Unable to respond to such tactics, I shifted my focus back to private opportunities, sponsoring business and property development projects from 1989 to 2014.  Notable projects included Rose Hill South, a 143-lot residential subdivision, Kamloops, BC, and Nature's Intent Environmental, a producer-distributor of natural fertilizer and soil amendment products.

The journey continued with Quality Log Homes; a distressed log-building kit producer successfully reorganized through a four-year turnaround/growth initiative. The series of private opportunity projects concluded with Systems-Built + Customhaus Group, an amalgamation of producer firms specializing in Prefab Building Systems.  Although a promising concept, it succumbed to global financial challenges of 2008, leading to my decision to 'hang up my spurs' in June 2010.

However, by 2018, I was rejuvenated and no longer content with 'retirement'.  Engaging the help of the 'WiX' platform, I founded entrepreneurialize.com and land4ge.com.  Subsequently, this was expanded to include the entrepreneurialize.com/blog and now, soon come is fix-the-biz.com, an entrepreneurialize.com 'mini-me.'

A Problem Seen | Is a Problem Solved!

“A problem seen is a problem solved!”  Combining this with a market approach designed to enhance what exists or create much that does not, Entrepreneurialize Opportunity Corp. brings about a new purpose.  Its role is to increase and harness value.  All stakeholders benefit!  Be it applied to business or property, this stakeholder list includes principal owners and investors, advisors and suppliers, customers and clients.

I describe this transition as having to “entrepreneurialize the opportunity” – i.e., identify what is possible and go for it!  When I mention help throughout this website, I do not mean “business advice for entrepreneurs”.  Instead, I mean “entrepreneurial advice for businesses”, small or midsize.

Whether wrestling with the inaugural stages of an emerging enterprise or running into growth challenges when the operation matures, entrepreneurship, in this sense, is a management process – i.e., developing the opportunity, regardless of the available means.  Here, you have a clear distinction when comparing it to the alternative – the administratively-driven counterpart, and the ‘trustee’ nature of the traditional, ‘resource-in-hand’ managed organization.

I do not, however, want to give the wrong impression.  When it comes to achievement, I certainly cannot claim the accomplishment I once thought I would surely achieve.  For every Bill Gates,
Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk or Richard Branson, countless others triumph to a lesser degree.  At least I can say that among my successes and setbacks, the former outpaced the latter, even if I say so myself!  Over the decades as a self-employed ‘developer-promoter’ I managed to launch and grow several viable businesses and a series of property enhancement opportunities.

Where there is unity there is
always victory.
